Piercing Aftercare
Use a saline wash/soak three times a day until the piercing is healed
Saline Soak Recipe:
1/4tsp. non-iodized sea salt (do NOT use table salt, it will irritate the piercing)
1cup (8oz) distilled or bottled water (do NOT use tap water, mineral build ups in your faucet can irritate the piercing)
Heat the water in a clean cup or bowl then thoroughly stir the sea salt in.
Soak the piercing in the saline for ten minutes three times a day. For tongue piercings, swish with this mixture after ingesting anything besides water for the first two weeks of having your piercing, after that, do it two to three times every day until the piercing is fully healed.
You can soak by either soaking the salt water solution into a paper towel and laying that on the piercing, dipping the piercing in a shallow bowl with the salt water in it, or by taking a shot glass (or similar small dish) putting the salt water in it, placing it over the piercing and then laying down (this works very well for microdermals, surface piercings, nipple and navel piercings)
Healing time varies for every person and piercing, but usually, it is from 3 to 6 months.
Never use alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, harsh soaps, heavily scented soaps, or eye contact solution on your piercings. If you have an oral piercing, do not consume alcohol or smoke for the first month of having the piercing. The alcohol and smoke can severely irritate the piercing.
